This course will provide you with key frameworks and concepts in strategy. It will show you that a firm must have a clear vision and clear objectives before formulating its strategy, taking also into account the corporate culture. The course will make you aware of the need for intensive strategic analysis and will make you apply the appropriate tools. Strategy is relevant for all participants – entrepreneurs, managers and leaders – and helps them to understand and make strategic decisions.
Key points: an introduction to strategy and competitive advantage; the foundations for strategy: vision, mission, culture and objectives; the strategic position: analysing the environment, resources and capabilities; expectations and; strategic choices: corporate level strategy, business level strategy, functional strategy; strategy implementation: structure, systems and culture.
Learning Outcomes
This course shall:
- provide you with key frameworks and concepts in business and corporate strategy
- show you that a firm must have a clear vision and clear objectives before formulating its strategy
- make you aware of the need for intensive strategic analysis in firms
- help you in understanding and making strategic decisions of firms
- give you insights in the need for implementing strategy
- reflect the trend towards internationalization and globalization and focus on the international dimension of strategy, where appropriate and
- prepare you for thinking about your firm’s strategy
