Blue Air announces the appointment of new CEO

Bucharest, September 18, 2018 - Blue Air appointed Mr. Marius Puiu as the new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Mr. Gheorghe Racaru. Mr. Puiu has a vast experience in the aviation industry, particularly in-flight operations and aviation practices. 

He started his career in aviation as a flight engineer for the state-owned company Tarom in 1986, and he is part of the Blue Air family since 2008, where his career path saw him progress through various managerial roles within the company. For the past five years, Mr. Marius Puiu has been a commanding pilot, a flight instructor, and this spring he has been appointed Chief Operations Officer. “It is with awe and gratitude that I take over today this great responsibility from Mr. Racaru. I have been fortunate to work very closely with him for quite a while and, as I step into the CEO position, I am prepared to do my absolute best to follow in his footsteps and lead the company into new horizons and the next level of our development.”

Mr. Tudor Constantinescu, President of the Board and Chief Commercial Officer: “A new page in the governance of Blue Air is being written this year, as the executive leadership is handed over to Mr. Marius Puiu. The Shareholders and the Board of Administrators would like to express the highest gratitude for all the efforts and dedication Mr. Gheorghe Racaru contributed from the moment of incorporation of the airline in 2004 until today when Blue Air became one of the biggest players in Romania and a relevant carrier at European level. Leaving the executive assignments, Mr. Racaru will further concentrate on the long-term strategy of the airline helping further to Blue Air’s development and keeping available all his management, leadership, wisdom and business acumen skills and experience. As of now, I would like you all to join me in warmly welcoming Mr. Marius Puiu in his new role of Chief Executive Officer of Blue Air, and I trust his large relevant experience, his human personal approach for people together with the enhanced leadership skills will further successfully steer our organization in the years to come”.
