Southeast Europe’s Largest Renewable Energy Event - Hosted in Bucharest on May 17th

Theme - Developing a strong regional green energy supply chain

On May 17th you are invited to attend RESinvest Conference - SEE’s largest in person conference held in Bucharest on May 17th 2022, that will also be streamed online to a global audience. It will address one of the wind and solar energy industries’ most pressing needs: bringing a functional supply chain to all European countries who are working towards their 2030 decarbonization targets. RESinvest Conference is organized by the Romanian Wind Energy Association (RWEA) and Photovoltaic Industry Association (RPIA), in collaboration with WindEurope, and SolarPower Europe.

The EU Green Deal is pushing an unprecedented second wave of wind and solar energy investments in Southeast Europe. Countries are pursuing extremely ambitious targets - Romania for instance will more than double its clean energy capacity. At the same time the wind and solar equipment manufacturers are struggling to keep up with demand, leading to long delivery times and higher costs for all stakeholders involved.

The recent conflict in Ukraine has created an urgent need to invest in green energy for the region's energy security. Romanian President Klaus Iohannis underlined two priorities: the first to increase the share of GDP dedicated to the country's defense from 2 to 2.5%, and “secondly, it is imperative to strengthen Romania's energy independence, mainly through investments in renewable and nuclear energy", the head of state declared.

The need for equipment and components for wind and solar farms is therefore greater than ever, and Southeast Europe can come to rescue with its lower costs of production and ample skilled workforce. Romania already produces generators and electrical control systems for turbines, bearings, forgings and has created the largest center of renewable energy technicians in South Eastern Europe in Constanța, a success that can be replicated in other areas of the industry.

"Romania's potential to become a champion in renewable energy is massive and I believe we should emphasize this as often as possible," stated Iulia Ramona Chiriac, the European Commission's Head of Representation in Romania. "Companies' expertise, technology and willingness to invest in renewables in Romania, including on the supply chain side, can contribute to the development of a long-term strategic advantage in the decarbonization process."

RESinvest conference will discuss concrete ways to stimulate the development of production capacities in SEE. The event will bring together representatives of the Romanian Presidency, energy ministries from Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia, the European Commission, alongside European c-level investors, OEMs and equipment manufacturers.
