Romania’s energy sector is key to its evolving economy and security policy. 

The commitments to energy transition aim for 39.9% of renewable sources in the primary energy mix by 2030, emphasizing the development of storage capacities and transport infrastructure, the labeling of energy development zones in base of renewable sources, the stimulation of the replacement of end-of-life capacities and the development of small capacities and stimulation of prosumers.

The Recovery and Resilience Mechanism gives Romania access to EUR 29.2 bn. One of the six pillars of the plan, Green Transition, sets out a dedicated category for renewable energy and energy efficiency. As part of the last call for funding on solar and photovoltaic capacities, more than 700 applications were submitted for twice the allocated budget. This testifies to the strong interest of investors in this sector.

In 2023, other lines of financing will be opened within the framework of the Modernization Fund. In this context, investors seek to source new skills to ensure the design, implementation and monitoring of projects.
